Nela Bartova

Nela (1988)  originally from Opava, studied Sculpture Studio 2 at the Faculty of Fine Arts at Brno University of Technology and is currently completing her studies at the Academy of Fine Arts in Prague. She primarily works with glass and ceramics. Under the alias neli vanilli, she occasionally mixes carnival-style techno music. Text is an integral part of her practice—her work has been published on several literary websites, in magazines, and anthologies. In 2021, her poetry collection Na konci chodby je ráno (“At the End of the Hallway, It’s Morning”) was published by the Ostrava-based publisher Bílý Vigvam and was nominated for the Magnesia Litera Award in the Best Debut category. In her work, Bártová explores themes concerning the human relationship with nature and contemporary existence. Throughout her practice, she incorporates collage elements, utilizing them across different media combinations. Her hobbies include sleeping and walking.
