Petr Lorenz

Petr Lorenz (1986) is a painter from Brno who graduated from the Faculty of Fine Arts at Brno University of Technology, specializing in drawing, graphics, and painting. In his 2011 bachelor’s thesis, Communication of Painting and Film – Film in Painting, he explored the relationship between film and painting. His professor Jiří Sobotka describes his work as evoking a nostalgic Arcadia, where the spirits of film characters coexist with their deceased actors in a timeless space, raising questions about the meaning of images in the digital age.

His artwork includes paintings inspired by famous film scenes as well as depictions of real-life places, such as the streets and cafés of Brno. He lives and works at the castle in Kuřim.
